In anticipation of future growth, we are seeking applicants for a Director of Membership Sales & Marketing role in a variety of private club locations. This role reports to the club’s General Manager and works in collaboration with the assigned Troon Sales & Marketing Lead. Typical compensation includes salary plus a performance-based commission that totals an annual amount appropriate for the specific market location.

The Director of Membership Sales & Marketing leads the prospecting, sales, and member onboarding connection activities at the club level, and contributes to its overall success by:

  • Meeting or exceeding stated sales, revenue, and retention goals.
  • Working closely with the club’s onsite management team while collaborating with an onsite real estate team (if applicable) to ensure an integrated and mutually supportive lead capture process and sales journey for prospects.
  • Working closely with the Troon corporate Operations and Sales-Marketing Leads to ensure the most productive leverage of the Troon brand and resources at the level desired by ownership.
  • Consistently interacting with ownership, Troon, prospects, members, and co-workers with a positive attitude and focus on a culture of hospitality, leadership and mutual respect.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Consistently presents as a membership sales and marketing professional when working with stakeholders, prospects, members, and co-workers.
  • Develops and executes membership-specific marketing to attract qualified leads, while adhering to a departmental budget as established by the stakeholders.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of the club’s private member login website and all membership-related materials, such as collateral for prospecting, sales, and member communications; social media; membership sales kit; and member onboarding.
  • Develops and conducts prospect and member connection events and activities.
  • Networks within the sphere of community influencers, such as Realtors.
  • Uses a professional Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool and Troon’s Membership Activity and Stakeholder Reports, while comprehensively tracking and reporting day-to-day activities related to the membership sales, such as lead capture, prospecting, sales (paced by budget forecast), upgrades, and resignations.
  • Oversees ongoing execution of all paperwork necessary to support membership sales activities, while ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all member documentation.
  • Creates and maintains member files.
  • Leads the development and ongoing delivery of a comprehensive member orientation and onboarding process, ensuring that new members gain a thorough understanding of every element of the club and how to use each in relation to the membership benefits and privileges.
  • Supportive team player who regularly and actively contributes to staff meetings.
  • Constantly working to develop and maintain relationships with members to support satisfaction and retention goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, communications or hospitality, and/or minimum of five years’ experience in a related field.
  • Experience in an exclusive, high-profile membership sales environment, preferably in a country club setting.
  • Exceptional sales skills with proven record of meeting or exceeding established sales and revenue goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven expertise in presenting to and interacting with high net worth individuals.

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher).
  • Positive attitude, with a professional manner and appearance at all times.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to multi-task and produce high-quality results with attention to detail.
  • Well versed in budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and marketing strategy and tactical execution.
